YOUR HOME FROM HOME

Hi All,

Our weekly pool competition kicks off this
Wednesday, 28 June, and will be held every
Wednesday from now on. Only R10 to
enter. Starts promptly at 8pm, so don't
be late. Max. of 32 players so get there early!

The monthly trivia will still be held on Wednesday
5 July but will move to Monday evenings as from
August. This is becoming very popular, so get your
teams together and book your spots early.

Don't forget about the karaoke on Friday 7 July. In future, karaoke will be held twice a month instead of only once. More about that in the future.

Remember, the Pool League's 2nd round starts on 4 July. I am still waiting for the new set of fixtures and will post them here as well as on the notice board at The Cue Inn as soon as I receive them.

The ladies held their pool trials at Blizzards on Sunday and after a very long day (they only finished after 12!) the following players from our zone were selected to represent Boland at the Ladies Nationals to be held in Oudtshoorn in August.

A Team

Virginia Frans
Jolene Gillespie

B Team

Wendy Pella (Capt. + 1st Team reserve)
Yvette Olivier
Abigail Fysh
Dominique Braga
Elzanne Louw

Marisa Steyn withdrew due to health reasons.

Congratulations to all these ladies and we wish them well on their tour. (Oh yes, yours truly was also asked to manage the B Team.) We ask that all our league players and friends support these ladies in their efforts to raise funds.

Thats about it for now, so remember,

Hi All

Stoney asked that I send this mail out to all clubs:

Please remind all your lady players of trials on Saturday (all fully registered ladies are invited). Trials start strictly at 09:00 at Blizzard in Durbanville. If you do not know where the venue is, please contact Stoney or myself as soon as possible for directions. If we do not finish all the games on Saturday, we will continue on Sunday. All players must attend both days or you will not be eligible for selection. Persons interested in being referees must also please attend.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!

§ All players must be dressed in black pants and neat black shoes, with your club shirt (or highest colours attained). If you are not dressed correctly you will not be allowed to play!! Please note: no jeans or cargo pants allowed.
§ Each player must have their R300.00 deposit on registration. If you make the team, this will pay the deposit on your accommodation. If not, you will get it back. You will also have to pay for your table money – R3.00 per game.
§ All players selected will be required to attend the referee’s course & exam to be held Sunday, 2 July (will be confirmed at trials). This will also be held at Blizzard. Anybody may attend and write the exam, but all players and referees selected must attend. Cost of exam is R10.00 (for your exam paper).

If you have any questions, please contact Stoney or myself as soon as possible. Hope to see all of you there!!

Regards
Elmari Furby

Logs After First Round

The first round has come to an end and I don't think there are that many surprises!
Cue Inn ruling the roost at the moment with Cue 3 living up to my prediction that
they would be a force to be reckoned with this season! Cue 1 are still just cruising
and haven't really played to their full potential this season as yet. Beware when they
peak! Last seasons champions in 3rd at the moment and are always a threat.
I foresee a few upsets in the second round as the new league players are starting
to gain in confidence after nervous starts to the season.

Second round start 4 July.

The Cue Inn will have a Pool Competition every wednesday starting 28 June.
See you all soon.

YOUR HOME FROM HOME

Hi everyone,
Hope you all in great health. I'm still stuggling
to upload all the pool stats and logs. Hopefully
I'll have all that sorted out soon.

Wednesday(7th) was our monthly trivia evening
which was held outside in the Beer Garden.Wow,
those outdoor heaters work great. Once again,
the ladies from La essence, Kelly & Elzanne did
a great job with the questions and presentation!

The competition between the teams was great,
with the Mix 'n Match team led by Don running
out as the eventual winners, just managing to
beat last months winners, Jaws, in the final
straight. The team with the most "gees" was
definitely the "Balloonie Tunes" team!!
Unfortunately, yours truly and my team managed to prop up the bottom of the placings!
Lol!
A big 'Thank You' to Roland for organising some
great prizes and to the Reps. etc who stepped
up to the plate! A great time was had by all!

Remember our Pool Competition on the 14th! Only R10 to enter, and I'm sure there will be
some great prizes as well as some fierce competition. I expect to see ALL our pool members there!

Karaoke last week was great with some guest "artists" turning up!! Once again Andrew won the voucher for best Rock 'n Roll singer!!
This was definitely a "home town" decision, as I think the other two were a bit better!! sanity prevailed and they all received a voucher!(Pat on back 4 me, LOL).
We are expecting a great crowd for next weeks Karaoke on Thurs. 15th.
Friday is a public holliday so we'll see you all there.

Thats it from me, and I'll see you all next week again. Enjoy the weekend and remember to
pop in to your"Home from Home"

Chow,
JJ
